Sasikala was convicted by the 2-judge Supreme Court bench in Disproportionate Assets case and was sentenced to 4 years in jail. That means Sasikala has to lay off her claim to the post of the CM of Tamil Nadu. That plays into O Panneerselvam’s hands and he will have the chair without having to go through with proving his strength in the Assembly. Sasikala has to serve the remainder of her 3 years and 6 months in jail and cannot compete in any election for the period of 10 years. According to last reports, the police had reached the Golden Bay resort, where Sasikala was reportedly seen with her MLAs. According to Times Now, certain MLAs have been abandoning the sinking ship and have already shown their support of O Panneerswelvam, who in all likeliness will continue as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
